April's
Musings
Saturday, August 19, 2006
It is seven-ish in the a.m. on Friday, August 18th. For me that
is definitely early morning. I am driving through the green
hills of Vermont to the golden fields of Quebec. Around me the
air is coolish, and signs of fall are evident in the changing
colors of the grasses.
Stateside a young deer hovers near the roadhis coloring,
his princely shape, his finely tuned sensitivity are bathed
in the golden light of morning. Flying past at seventy miles
an hour, I look fearfully behind. Stay on the edge Little Prince,
go back. Near the roadside in Quebec a yellow shafted flicker
pecks at the ground, his long beak searching for insects, a
flock of blackbirds sweeps the sky, I am off to Montreal to
present my spring collection to my Canadian sales reps. Expectation
is evident in my mood and in my observations. Those young creaturesnew
this very summerare like my collectionnew this very
same summer. A labor of love and exhaustion by my designer Camille
Daunno and me has gone into completing this spring collection.
We have put all our thoughts and inspirations, all our customers
comments and own intuitive beliefs in every blouse, jacket and
colorful skirt. We will show a beautiful collection to our customers.
We will offer beauty in to their everyday.
If you want to know more about our spring collection, and are
a retailer you can contact our Canadian Headquarters at 1-514-935-9295
Monday to Friday.
In a few short weeks we will open three stores in the USA. Those
stores will, next spring, harbor this collection, this expectation,
this promise of spring. In the meantime, journey through the
last days of summer, with the still humid day time air and store
up the warmth of these August days for the fall ahead.
All the best in August,
April
