"If I were a flower for a week"

It is the time of year when flowers are abundant—I know that my Midsummer garden is full of them. And the fields of July are scattered like a Monet painting with each bloom a dab of color.

Did you ever imagine your flower clone—which flower would you be if you were a flower?

If I was a flower I think I would be a red hibiscus. On Mondays: flaming and attention seeking, with a long red tongue sticking out. Or a pansy on Tuesdays, with velvety petals in purple and yellow, and stay close to my family. Or on Wednesdays I might be rose, a complexity of petals, one on the other, feminine and aromatic, but a little prickly underneath. If it was Thursday I would be a wood violet, with soft violet stripes, quiet and hidden in the darkness. On Friday I would be tall bee balm and call all the hummingbirds my way. On Saturday I would be a white petalled daisy, braided through a straw hat, listening to the laughter of a family picnic. On Sunday I would take my day of rest and be a water lily, floating face up in a Northern Lake.

We, as women, can choose who we want to be, from Monday to Sunday, knowing that we are as the flowers, always beautiful (though sometimes prickly underneath.)

Enjoy July,
April
