With the multitude of traditional Christmas parties on your list, wouldn’t it be fun to have an alternative way to get friends together this time of year? Here are a few suggestions for little get-togethers that have a seasonal touch.

Invite over friends and have each guest responsible for a different type of candy decoration for the houses. You can either supply homemade gingerbread house pieces, buy the pieces at a specialty store, or use simple gram crackers. With holiday songs echoing around the house, gingerbread house assembly, and oodles of sweet treats, you will be sure to have fun and share laughter. Even a caved in roof, or broken candy cane trim can be fun with friends.
Instead of hours of mingling at a corporate holiday party, try having a few friends over and watching your favorite past time holiday movies. Provide bottles of wine and spirits and have your guests bring pot luck finger food and cookies. If you need more entertainment, play a classic game while Rudolph flies in the background.
Spending time with children over the holidays can bring you back to your own childhood. Children see the world with fresh and energetic eyes. (Do you remember the excitement that bubbled up inside as you waited for Christmas morning?) Baking cookies with kids can be incredibly messy, but also fun and entertaining. Sugar cookies are a favorite when you decorate them with colored frosting and candy accents. Wrap a box of cookies in a café size tablecloth or tea towel and give these homemade treats as a gift to a friend.
