A great activity in the winter, is adding a little color to your home. Give yourself a vacation from the ordinary and pick a room to give a splash of new color. One of the easiest ways to pick a color palette to work with is find a favorite object of fabric to base a room around. Sure you wouldn't normally think of putting a bold violet color with a fiery orange, but when one item or fabric combines the two, you can mix and match around that focal point. It is all about creating a color scheme and doing it with intention and purpose. After all, mother nature has picked these colors to work before in gardens and in fields!

-Choose a focal point (an antique vase, an heirloom throw, a slip covered chair)

-Pick two to three colors from this item . Then pick three shades of each of these colors (a pastel yellow/orange, a soft pumpkin, and a saturated fiery orange)

-Use these colors to paint your walls, gather accent pieces, or recover furniture. They all work together because they are from the same palette.
