The leaves are
changing, the days growing shorter, a crisp breeze blows and...
it's time to start thinking about spring. Those crimson dotted
hills and snow drift mountains will make way for warm weather
once again but for now, It's bulb planting time!
Planting bulbs can be a wonderfully artistic and relaxing afternoon
activity. Head to your local greenhouse and stock up on bags
of multi colored tulip and daffodil bulbs.
Arrange an afternoon of planting with your daughter, mother
or friend.
Keep a pot of hot mulled cider on the stove to share when the
afternoon planting is through.
Scatter the bulbs throughout the yard and garden first to artistically
arrange a scattered or contrived appearance.
Dig a winter home for the bulbs about 2 – 2.5 times the size
of the bulb you are planting.
Be sure to plant the bulb with the point side up. This will
allow the greenery to sprout in the direction of the sun without
causing stress to the plant.
Enjoy the autumn scenery and wish your bulbs a peaceful hibernation...
they will be blooming beauties soon enough.
