Thanksgiving
November 21, 2006
As we move into the holiday season, with Thanksgiving being the
number one ramp-up-kick-off-last-chance-to-get-your-retail-business-in-gear-before-year's-end-event,
here are a few wishes for you.
I wish that the weather is bright and sunny.
I wish that parking garages are full, but parking spots are available.
I wish that there are no world disasters, and no frightening news.
I wish that your shopping areas are crime free, and nicely decorated.
I wish that your purchasing choices have reflected your customers'
desires, and they express them with you.
I wish that your staff doesn't decide to go on holiday during
the holidays, and instead they join in the spirit of playing Santa's
elves for the month.
I wish that the flu season doesn't strike and keep people home.
I wish that people come out to see the warm scarves and mittens
they will need for the winter.
I wish that the holiday music is inspiring and not tiring, and
some shops still play jazz and the blues.
I wish that holiday parties are events to anticipate with pleasure,
and those pretty dresses, smart bags and bust-out shoes are worn.
I wish that your Black Friday is green and that your green Christmas
is white. And when all of the wishes are not quite strong enough,
I wish you the talent to show your retail stuff!
I wish that all of the myriad influences of retail confluence
together to help cash registers ring and retailers sing so that
when the New Year chimes in, you are anticipating the new and
delightful "Giving Thanks" for the past.
Happy Thanksgiving and a busy Black Friday to everyone.
