Cornell's Policy Regarding Overseas Employment
We want to state forcefully and unequivocally
that no child labor is involved in any way in the production of
goods for April Cornell. Whether in our own factory in India or
in our suppliers’ factories in our source countries of India,
China, and Indonesia, no child labor is used. While developing
product we are frequent visitors to our suppliers’ work
sites. This close relationship enables us to assure the outside
world that no child labor is used. We pay fair wages, employ skilled
adult workers, and have the lowest turnover rate of anyone we
are aware of, with no work disruptions to date. We feel we make
a valuable contribution in good jobs, foreign exchange, and a
safe work environment to people and countries in need. In fact,
in more than 30 years of traveling to the far east we have never
witnessed the indentured child labor that is so often talked about
in the media. We have taken a special interest in a relief agency
in India. It is called CONCERN INDIA. They provide education and
opportunity for the children of migrant workers who live in shanty
towns around the major cities. We make sizeable annual donations.
